A “Critical Voices: From Local to Global” discussion with Roberta “Robbie” Kaplan, founder of Kaplan Hecker & Fink LLP and experienced commercial and civil rights lawyer. Kaplan shares her experiences lawyering for the public interest and litigating landmark cases, such as United States v. Windsor. Scott Kennedy, an Associate at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP who was actively engaged at the Sorensen Center while a student at CUNY Law, will moderate.

Kaplan has continued her deep-seated commitment to using the law to advance the public interest, partnering with Integrity First for America to sue the two dozen neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and hate groups responsible for the Charlottesville violence, and currently representing E. Jean Carroll, Mary Trump, and members of ACN in suits against Donald Trump. Kaplan was recently named the 2020 “Attorney of the Year” by the New York Law Journal. Prior to founding her own firm, she was a litigation partner at Paul, Weiss where Ted Sorensen practiced for several decades following his position as long-time close advisor, Special Counsel, and primary speechwriter to President John F. Kennedy.

The Sorensen Center’s “Critical Voices: From Local to Global” speaker series features extraordinary leaders from around the world discussing groundbreaking issues.
